Here’s what your donation can do:

  • $75: Teach a new form of expression to an autistic child through a session of art therapy.
  • $250: Give a low-income child the ability to bring her ideas to life at a week of summer camp.
  • $500: Empower an at-risk middle school student to improve his attitude towards self, school and learning through a semester of after-school art.
  • $750: Provide support and a sense of community to a mentally ill adult through two months of art therapy at CREATE Arts Center’s Studio Downstairs.

Tamar Hendel Fund for Inspiration

As a 7 year old, a young Croatian girl went into hiding in Italy with her family. As World War II raged around them, the girl’s mother taught her daughter to draw, to copy pictures out of books, to sew, and to embroider. In this way, she fed her daughter’s imagination and distracted her from the war that surrounded them. And it was in this way that Tamar Hendel first fell in love with art.

Many years later, Tamar was inspired to create a place for the artist in each of us. That inspiration became CREATE Arts Center, which has helped over 20,000 artists of all ages and backgrounds find their own inspiration through camps, classes, and workshops.

The Tamar Hendel Fund for Inspiration will ensure that local children and adults will have the opportunity to be inspired at CREATE for years to come.
