GRANT

We are delighted to have just received a grant from the Montgomery County DIVAs -- Donors InVesting in Arts – for camp scholarships for two students!

One student was at CREATE last summer and at eight she is already a serious artist. The other camper is also eight. His second grade teacher writes that, he “is hardworking, inventive and a great problem solver. He acts as a mentor and translator for other students.” Both have already started CREATE-ing at camp.

We have other children who are hoping to receive camp scholarships.

Please help us make a difference for more children this summer by making a donation to CREATE. A full scholarship for two weeks of camp is $450, but we welcome donations of any amount. Click here for more information.


CREATE's STUDIO DOWNSTAIRS ON THE RADIO

CREATE is very excited that our Studio Downstairs program has been selected by public radio station WAMU 88.5 to be featured as a Community Minute for the month of July.

(CREATE’s Studio Downstairs is an open art studio/therapeutic environment for those who have experienced mental illness, trauma or loss. The studio serves as a bridge to give people a space to overcome their psychological difficulties and make a successful transition back to the workforce, school, or community life. Tune into WAMU 88.5 during Morning Edition or All Things Considered and you might hear us mentioned. We are featured twice a day for the entire month. WAMU 88.5’s Community Minute is a community service designed to help the station better engage with its listeners and the local organizations that help improve the quality of their lives.


MURAL

A mural is being painted by CREATE summer volunteers on the back stage door of the Old Blair High School Auditorium, at Silver Spring International Middle School under the guidance of CREATE arts teachers. Click here for pictures and more information!

SUMMER SHOW AT St. LUKE's HOUSE BETHESDA

- one week mini sessions June 9-13 and August 25-29
- two week sessions from June 16-August 22.
